For numerous several years, disc jockey Bruce Bezeau played the tunes at the Court docket Dances. This year, DJ Chip Williams will take over, offering 1950s and ‘60s tunes and some line dances.
“The Court Dances will be very similar to the past, with a DJ enjoying the oldies, and absolutely everyone can go to with every single other,” Amy Mason, recreation programmer for the Metropolis of Monroe Parks and Recreation department, mentioned.
Mason is hoping for good attendance and plans to give a different Court Dance later in the summer months.
“I am hoping we get a terrific turnout, as it is a stress-free evening to sit and listen to some excellent oldies. There are a lot of out there dancing, and we play some line dancing songs way too. All ages are welcome to attend,” she mentioned.
Court Dances were well-liked in Monroe in the 1950s and ‘60s.
In 2010, Loretta LaPointe, retired director of the Parks and recreation division, brought them back.
