Dance, audio and spoken word all perform a important portion in Starz’s “Blindspotting.”
The collection adaptation was designed by Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs, who wrote, produced and starred in the original film, and picks up six months immediately after the movie’s timeline. Choreographer Jon Boogz, who labored with companion Lil Buck on the show’s dance sequences, says the clearly show proves that there are no boundaries to what road dance can do. Boogz states, “Our existence purpose is to transform people’s notion of the artwork kind of dance and the tales that it can notify.”
Boogz is particularly happy of the sequence he and Buck worked on throughout episode four, “The Four Hustlateers,” which is a dance depicting the friendship between Miles and Diggs’ Collin, and normally takes location within a dwelling. The episode is steeped in nostalgia as Ashley, Janelle (Candace Nicholas-Lippman), Rainey (Helen Hunt) and Earl (Benjamin Earl Turner) reminisce, generally by the lens of their teenage many years.
