You know what is coming up coming – my awards for top artists in the present.  As a excellent juror, I can use my seasoned eye from the thumbnails and site visits to award the Campello awards.

For the painters I liked  Zhiyi Li (from Enfield, CT) in Booth #66, and Thomas Williams (from Chicago, IL) in Booth #78.

All three printmakers in the clearly show are exceptional — I’ve written a good deal about Joseph Craig English from Washington Grove, MD (Booth #84) – in this demonstrate John Pernell and Michael Nemnich are also very very good.

For Mixed Media, my top choose was Sandra Sedmak Engel, whose sensual do the job is a satisfaction both to the eye and the eros that outdoor reveals ordinarily attempt to eliminate.

There are a large amount of gifted photographers in the show. See them all below. James Richmond from Titusville, Florida (Booth #76) went to Cuba and has the mandatory photos of previous 1950s cars in Havana, as I have an understanding of that the Cuban dictatorship will not allow holidaymakers (and photographers primarily) to depart from the jailed island unless of course proof is offered at the airport that pictures of the classic autos have been taken.

Pet peeve apart, Richmond has an outstanding eye for capturing the grace that is human kind, all the way from Portuguese card gamers in Aged Europe to gorgeous indigenous gals in Panama, to Cuban farmers in the brutalized Castro Brothers’ Workers Paradise.

It is a wonderful photograph, capturing the essence of the Cuban guajiro, his ancient Basque bloodlines nevertheless really cleansing running via his veins as evidenced by the telltale ear lobe, a broad smile for the American vacationer on his slim lips, and a hand-rolled Habano in his mouth, the envy of every smoker millionaire close to the planet.

In the classification of sculpture, Tanya Tyree caught my focus as her sculptures battle in between gifted performance and a bit of whimsy. What is distinct is a straight and exceptional vision becoming delivered by the (I suspect) really powerful and proficient hands of this artist.

And the Campello decide on for Greatest in Display?

It goes to painter Cassie Taggart from Rehoboth, DE in Booth #51.

Even though anyone can promptly see that Taggart’s operate examine surrealism, what she has brilliantly carried out is to provide a new 21st century variation of surrealism, in which her skilled painting talents marry it with fantasy, and the fantastical (which is distinctive) as perfectly as a balanced dose of narrative storytelling.

It is “otherworldly” artwork deeply anchored in details which lives concealed in our ancestral mind.  This is work which when you invest in it and hold it in your household, will dominate anything else which you have hung on these walls.

Go outside and see some artwork this weekend, talks to artists and artisans, consume some terrible-for-you meals and hear to some outdoor music.
